June 2020 Newsletter

What do webinars, toilet paper,

and IoT have in common?

For starters, they have substantially trended in 2020!

Fortune surveyed the CEOs of the 2020 Fortune list to understand what the corporate world believes is going to happen. The results clearly show the leading companies in the world are convinced that there are going to be permanent changes in the business landscape.

  • 51.1% responded that they believe business travel levels will never return to as they were before the pandemic
  • 72.6% responded that their number of W2 employees in January 2021 will be lower than it was in January 2020.

At face value, these results should be very concerning to those of us on the front lines of technological innovation. It appears that budgets just aren’t going to be the same as they used to be. But here’s where the data get interesting:

  • 75% of these CEOs believe that the crisis is going to accelerate their pace of technological innovation and adoption
  • As compared to the only 6% of CEOs who believe it will slow down!

We appear to be entering a giant step forward for technologies involving IoT, cybersecurity, automation, and edge computing. As businesses rapidly move to adhere to new compliance standards, migrate to touchless interfaces, and increase automated processes across their operations, CIOs the world over are moving to quickly fill technological gaps in their corporate infrastructure.

Our own CEO was asked for his insight on the application of IoT in business,  let alone the impact that IoT can have amidst COVID-19, in the latest report by the Economist. (Download the report here)

It’s an exciting time to be in the Internet of Things sector!
